Burning the marketing oil

Trying to study my marketing while blogging this. Hard to find the focus when everything else wants your attention. Now it's 12.54am according to my pc's clock, and I got like 4½ topics more to cover for my marketing test scheduled at 1330 later in the day. Guess it's my laziness to blame. Discipline, Jon, discipline. Others are starting to enjoy their holiday mood, Christmas is coming after all, but I can't seem to slip into that yet. Still got many things on my plate now: lectures, guitar, coordinating the january performance, church, work. What for, some people might ask, that I get involved in so much stuff. One of the motivating factors I guess is to learn from the experiences each of them has to teach me, which will be invaluable when I graduate and move to the working environment. Management of people, decision making, service orientation, etc. Not to mention seeking God.

Been a relaxing few days since I last blogged, since I wasn't working. Treetop walk on saturday with Joyce, Eliz, Dennis, Sebastian, Eileen in the morning, followed by watching of the Blessed dvd at home, then church for 2 way live video conferencing from the Manila crusade. Quite an experience, I would say. Touched to see so many lives over there healed by the wonderous touch of God. Sunday was spent in church, followed by lunch with some cell members, then it's Mind Cafe to celebrate Eliz's birthday. Kinda unique environment to celebrate in. Staff there are really friendly and service oriented I must say. Elicia, Dennis, Sebastian and I shared a glass light-up thingy with a cross embedded in the glass. Really nice to look at once the lights are on. Maybe I should ask Eliz to take a shot of it then send it to me to post it up here. Heh, reminds me of the candid shot I took of Samantha at the cafe, haha. Kinda funny. Better not mention any more lest xiao mei mei kills me :Þ.

Baby socks and silica gel to the rescue

It's really really really humid today, not to mention the rain, which sent my guitar case's hygrometer into a one way ride to a high 70%ish humidity level, and remained around there for most of the day. Did put in a bit of fresh gel in the morning before I left for school, but all of it turned pink by mid day. Kinda shocked to find out that the ones already in the case were already pink. Guess I should have been more vigilant about taking care of my baby. Weiqiang helped a lot when he spared me some gel during cell group. Don't think my guitar could have survived the night otherwise. Just put in fresh ones into the baby socks Jasmine helped me to get a couple of days back.

Been a tiring week, though it's cos I'm slacking too much at night and sleeping at wee hours doing nothing but reading and pouring over articles on the net. Should be burying my nose into my notes and books, but yet to find the will and focus to do so. More of a last minute person in doing things, heh. But that won't do in this course. Someone drag me to study, please.. Anyone..

Chalet at the beginning part of the week was fun to say the least, though I had to leave just after the first night. Basically just played games most of the night with them. Have not really done this since like, last year. Fun while it lasted though, the last 4 years. Too bad the game's dying and only left with us and a handful outside of us.

Product training at harbourfront for the new range of photo printers. Anyone interested to buy? Should be out by next weekend. Can't say it's cheap, but hey, it's good quality. And you pay for what you get. ü Finally got the Blessed dvd from Mount Zion earlier before I went for the training. And got myself a free year's membership for 10% discounts in the process. Can't wait to watch it. Maybe later in the day after the treetop walk. Gonna be a busy weekend even when i'm not working. Need to find time to rest and just be with the Lord. Hope to be able to do that in the next couple of days. That's what the sabbath is for.

Humidity's driving my guitar nuts

Guess it's getting pretty humid of late, with the hygrometer on my guitar case getting up to the extreme limits of the normal range. If it wasn't for the silica gel that's in the case, think the wood would have been spoiled by now. Looking for some kind soul to sponsor unwanted and clean baby socks that don't have any holes in them. Need it as a container for more silica gel to be put into my case. If you have and do know me, kindly drop me a buzz ü

Been to The Crimson Room last night and I thought it was pretty fun, though rather frustrating to get all the items and get out of the room. Took me the better part of an hour, with hints, to get out. Heh, oh well. Maybe I'll try again some time later, to see if I can still remember where all the items are.

Finally managed to meet up with Caroline to pass her the indemnity forms for the bbq/chalet, and broach the idea of a concert and using the club funds to cover the costs we've incurred for the chalet. She's pretty nice, and assented to the use of the club funds and the concert idea. Reminds me of Lina from NYP's counterpart. Anyway, time to start planning for it. Might need a sub committee for this. Definitely won't be able to handle it alone. Performance team from old, are you with me on this? Need your experience and skills. Will be asking the new batch of people also, so I can get small groups into place. Hoping for like 3 groups of players. Means I need more vocalists other than Yong'an, Jason, Jiaxing and Elicia. Think Eliz came up with the idea of auditioning the new people to find out who's capable of doing what. Still have to give thought for this, unsure of how to choose as yet. Have to send out an email as the first step to open it up to all.

Pray for me yeah? My knee's giving me trouble. Pain with every step, not to mention trouble with my balance. Might be a result of my hard case hitting my knee when I'm carrying it with my right hand. Sigh. Hope it'll go away after a few days. Experienced the same thing back in my army days. Back then it troubled me for the better part of a week. Maybe it's time to slow down my walk and be 'normal'. Those who know me should know what I'm referring to :Þ

The days go by

Hmm, been a while since I've updated here. Been busy of sorts: the usual work/church/study/guitar routine, cept that the guitar chalet was held this week to take advantage of the 2 public holidays. Guess it's the first time I've ever come across such a sequence. Chalet was quite ok, cept that some people only managed to reach late on the first day, so we didn't manage to have enough time to do planning and the prayer meeting. Oh well, at least we excos got together. Such a rarity to get everyone in one place due to conflicting schedules. Hope to have another meeting with everyone present again soon.

Now it's the end of week 8, and what do I still owe? 2 ISDM assignments and one soci assignment (that's due tomorrow). Managed to finish up the soci one earlier in the week, but ISDM? Still in limbo somewhere. Assignment 2 is due on sunday, and the first one ages ago. Sigh. Guess it's high time I started on them, maybe tomorrow after soci and lunch. I owe it to myself to start revising on my subjects. Certainly do not wish for a repeat of last academic year. Still want to focus on the Lord above all things first though. Got a lot more things to learn about Him, and I wish that I can be more like Him, to follow in and imitate His humility. Need His guidance as well in my life.

Spent yesterday at Terence's place with Jon Lau and Emily. Met up to play guitar, which is like a first for me. Certainly benefited from Terence's guidance, when he shared about his experiences in leading worship. Went through a few songs in the 2+ hours that we spent at his place. Still have to think about how to link the 2 songs that's gonna be used for tonight's cell worship. The steadfast love, and I love you Lord. Hmm, certainly have to experiment and play around a bit. Hope to finish it before leaving for Colin's place, which incidently, is gonna be the last time he's hosting. The cell found another home in Weiqiang's place, which was the previous host. Gonna be a first for me to head over to his place for cell; the last time I went was to pick up something after church. Oh well, I'll find out next week ü
